The role
We are seeking an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to join our Planning team on a part-time, 12-month contract, with a specific focus on Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and related residential planning breaches.
This role will support the council in managing a growing enforcement caseload, ensuring compliance with planning legislation and protecting residential amenity.

Key responsibilities
You will:

Investigate and manage planning enforcement cases, with a strong focus on unauthorised HMOs

Carry out site visits, inspections and evidence gathering

Assess breaches of planning control and recommend appropriate action

Prepare and serve enforcement notices and related legal documentation

Liaise with internal teams including housing, legal services and environmental health

Engage with landlords, agents, residents and other stakeholders

Support appeals, prosecutions and planning inquiries where required
