Job Title: Combat Systems Engineer – External Communications
Location: Frimley, Portsmouth Broad Oak or Weymouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

What you’ll be doing:
<ul>
<li>Capturing and agreeing technical requirements in accordance with company and programme processes</li>
<li>Reviewing technical solutions against contractual requirements and regulations for compliancy</li>
<li>Design documentation generated, captured, configured and controlled in accordance with company processes</li>
<li>Design change requirements and documentation generated, captured, configured and controlled in accordance with company processes</li>
<li>Captured and agreed input to appropriate Verification Cross-Reference Index (VCRI), Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plans (ITEAP) and Qualification Plans</li>
<li>Understand and interpret the User Needs, Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Concept of Use (CONUSE) and be able to derive the technical and functional requirements for specific external communications systems</li>
<li>Ensure design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management tools (IBM DOORS) and has been endorsed by the appropriate level of authority</li>
<li>Understand the contractual and performance requirements for external communications systems and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation and commissioning LCM process using CADMID</li>
<li>Understand and support the flow-down of requirements to suppliers and acceptance of their specific deliverables, ensuring it is captured and recorded appropriately</li>
<li>Provide specialist technical support to shipbuilder installation, integration activities and commissioning activities (included in-service refitting authorities)</li>
<li>Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customer</li>
</ul>
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of external (over the air) communications systems in the maritime defence domain and have a comprehensive understanding of how such systems and associated activities interact with the overall platform (knowledge of the whole radio frequency spectrum, Data/Voice Communications and Systems Network Architecture). Platform and ideally sea experience in an operational, build, trials or in-service support environment in order to have gained an understanding of the operational needs and requirements of a Combat System, and to help be credible with the Customer and User</li>
<li>Have good awareness of Product Safety and SHE</li>
<li>Good communication skills and be able to interact with stakeholders</li>
</ul>
Desirable:
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle with some experience of operating in a number of phases of the Engineering Lifecycle</li>
</ul>

The ECS (External Communications Systems) team:

This role will have you leading areas such as Requirements Management and Testing &amp; Integration of equipment into wider systems across Submarines. Principal Engineer – Combat Systems Engineering (External Communications)

Job Title: Nuclear Technical Specialist – Systems Training
Location: Barrow-in-Furness- Primarily onsite

What you’ll be doing:
<ul>
<li>You will be joining a multi-skilled team charged with developing and delivering key nuclear training packages, as well as providing assurance on the wider learning and development processes and outputs that have relevance to nuclear safety</li>
<li>Delivering strategic nuclear training goals ensuring nuclear safety is prioritised Supporting the development and delivery of key nuclear training packages for your own area of specialism to meet programme, business, and customer requirements including providing expert advice and guidance into the evolution of relevant training assets</li>
<li>Acting as a critical friend to support development of training assets out with own specialism to improve the quality of delivery of training packages pertinent to nuclear safety</li>
<li>Engaging with customers and stakeholder Subject Matter Experts to maximise the development of specialist nuclear skills and capabilities</li>
<li>Maintaining compliant administration, governance, and assurance of nuclear training according to agreed policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Maintaining and developing your own nuclear shipbuilder competence through activities within nuclear departments such as build, test and commissioning, regulatory interface or nuclear assurance. You can expect to be applying Naval Nuclear Steam Raising Plant expertise to complex engineering product, system, and process development or problem resolution</li>

Your skills and experiences:

<li>Demonstrable knowledge of nuclear systems and/or safety compliance, particularly related to build environment of Nuclear Submarines</li>
<li>Suitable qualification and experience in the development and delivery of training packages to a wide range of audiences</li>

<li>Well-honed organisation skills, agility and responsiveness to customer requirements</li>
<li>Appreciation of risk and issue management, supported by analytical skills and problem solving</li>

These are brand-new roles at BAE Systems Submarines, created to facilitate and manage training and compliance to enable a competent and resilient business resource. You will be joining a team based at Barrow-in-Furness whose main task is to deliver, govern and assure Nuclear Baseline compliance, training and licensed site arrangements. You will have the opportunity to gain product-facing skills across other nuclear departments, liaising with cross functional teams in Engineering and Manufacturing, as well working directly with Senior Nuclear Leadership teams.
