What you’ll be doing:
<ul>
<li>Applying your subject matter knowledge and domain experience to support the Engineering Managers and Sub-System Technical Leads in delivering control systems and products to the submarine build programme to agreed time, cost and quality in accordance with project milestones</li>
<li>Working collectively in a team, developing customer requirements, system models, use cases and design solutions</li>
<li>Ensuring design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management tools and has been endorsed by the appropriate level of authority</li>
<li>Understanding the contractual and performance requirements for systems and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria through design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning activities</li>
<li>Reviewing relevant supplier documentation and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriately</li>
<li>Supporting the development of estimates for the scope of work and resources required to deliver it to support bids, proposal development and project planning activities for various systems</li>
<li>Building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as inter-business teams, MOD &amp; industrial partners</li>

Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
<ul>
<li>Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/ Physics/ Maths/ Science)</li>
<li>Incorporated Engineer or ability to achieve Incorporated Engineer Status</li>
<li>Knowledge of Systems Engineering process and practices in the defence, maritime or closely linked industry</li>
<li>Demonstrable experience of the engineering lifecycle</li>
<li>Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations and an awareness of product safety and SHE</li>

What you’ll be doing:

<li>Assist the Senior Engineering Manager in delivering effective ILS outputs for the Strategic Weapon System Support (SWSS) solution</li>
<li>Provide expert support knowledge in responding to engineering queries from the MOD or Submarine Enterprise partners about the design, safety, maintenance, and operation of equipment and systems on in-service submarines</li>
<li>Offer expert advice on equipment in line with current governance processes, in response to engineering queries from the MOD Design Authority</li>
<li>Deliver support to the appropriate Engineering and Support Managers in the preparation of briefs and reports for both internal</li>
<li>Provide technical support for creating the maintenance plan, ensuring it meets Design Authority requirements, and contribute to work aimed at reducing duration, including related risks and issues and external reporting requirements</li>
<li>Provision of SWSS technical information from previously published sources where still available</li>

The Datum Pack team
This specialist role works closely with the Product Configuration team, particularly in relation to managing the Datum Pack, which is just one part of their responsibilities. This SQEP technical advisory role will collaborate directly with the technical delivery teams who manage and organize product-related items, providing them with authoritative guidance and technical assurance. Principal Engineer – Support Engineering

Job Title: Engineer – Seamanship 
Location: Scotstoun, Filton, Portsmouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

What you’ll be doing:
• Produce Layout Drawings for Seamanship compartments for review by stakeholders and to allow Stage 2 to correctly model these spaces
• Update Windchill PLM with mature parts, systems, occurrences and compartment data to ensure it correctly presents the baseline design.
• Write and update Technical Equipment Specifications and co-ordinate with suppliers to ensure delivery to the agreed specification
• Carry out technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the design of improvements
• Co-ordinate with systems engineers and detail designers on the integration of Seamanship systems
• Support HAZIDs and Safety Reviews as well as support Design Reviews and Zonal Reviews
• Make Engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority and undertake general business and other design and integration activities, in support of maturing the CSC design
• Liaise with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters and produce Procurement Pack documentation
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
• Knowledge and experience of naval and/or commercial ship seamanship systems with the experience to support system and spatial integration issues with other disciplines
• Seamanship includes the design or operation of boat handling systems, anchor and mooring equipment, RAS, Lifesaving and stores handling equipment
Desirable:
• Experience with 2D CAD software (AutoCAD) or experience of 3D CAD (FORAN)
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution.
Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation.
Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.
