What you’ll be doing: 
<ul>
<li>Understanding our customers’ complex needs and collaborating to develop, validate and manage requirements at multiple levels</li>

Your skills and experiences:
Essential
<ul>
<li>Proven experience developing systems in relevant product markets and/or domains, such as control systems, real time displays or other safety related systems, containing multiple technical disciplines such as electronics, mechanics, optics and/or software</li>
<li>Proven experience in requirements management, design analyses, modelling and simulation, using tools such as DOORS, Siemens Polarion, Enterprise Architect, MATLAB and/or Simulink and design methodologies such as SysML</li>
<li>A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant Scientific/Engineering subject (e.g., Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or Mathematics)</li>
</ul>
Desirable
<ul>
<li>Experience in integration, test, and verification of real time and/or safety related systems, with understanding of safety assessment processes including how these processes influence the design</li>
<li>Customer and/or supplier liaison experience for technical aspects, verifying and obtaining agreement that customer needs are satisfied</li>
<li>An understanding of information assurance, cyber security and environmental impact aspects relating to real time embedded engineering products</li>

The SMCS team:
As a Systems Engineer, you will provide Systems engineering support for the Submarine Command System (SMCS) projects/programmes. The SMCS provides situation awareness (via Tactical Picture Compilation) and Weapons Management capability for all submarines in the Royal Navy flotilla including the existing Astute and Vanguard Class submarines and future platform class Dreadnought.
In our ‘Systems’ team the work encompasses system design, requirements &amp; acceptance management and other general systems engineering considerations such as Security, Safety, Performance, Human Factors, Availability &amp; Reliability.

Associate Systems Engineer – SMCS

Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer – Software/Simulation

MIMESIS Product team:
You will join our Simulation and Training sector at Broad Oak Works Portsmouth, part of BAE Systems Maritime and Land Defence Solutions, working on our MIMESIS product.
MIMESIS provides a battlespace simulation of the maritime world; from terrain and seabed, to weather and underwater acoustics, accurately modelling the movement and behaviour of ships, submarines and other platforms, and digitally replicating their unique capabilities (sonars, radars, weapons). As a System Technical Lead within the MIMESIS team, you will have technical responsibility for the design and development of new modules/content for the product, reviewing and approving lower level documentation. You will also provide technical guidance to the engineering team, working closely with System Design Authority, to develop and support MIMESIS for our customers.
