Principal Commissioning Engineer RTS

Job Title: Engineer – Seamanship

What you’ll be doing:

• Seamanship includes the design or operation of boat handling systems, anchor and mooring equipment, RAS, Lifesaving and stores handling equipment
Desirable:
• Experience with 2D CAD software (AutoCAD) or experience of 3D CAD (FORAN)

Senior Engineer – Systems Engineering (Requirements & Acceptance)

Job Title: Principal Engineer (External Communications Integration)
Location: Barrow-in-Furness. On-Site
Salary: Negotiable dependant on experience
What you’ll be doing:
<ul>
<li>Maturing the external communications sub-system on the submarine from build to test</li>
<li>Undertaking test and trial events on the submarine</li>
<li>Working with subcontractors to come to site to undertake test events. (You will be responsible for managing the visit – submitting security forms, health and safety briefs, on the boat etc.)</li>
<li>Defect investigation or non-conformities. (installation or testing) Investigate to a resolution</li>
<li>Providing specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise to develop the functional design of external communications systems</li>
<li>Being able to define the systems architecture, components, interfaces and data to enable the development and production of the component sub systems</li>
<li>Understanding the contractual and performance requirements for external communications systems, and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation and commissioning activities</li>
</ul>
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
<ul>
<li>Experience in Field Engineering/Construction Engineering previously, within a test and commissioning background, including taking part in test and trial events</li>
<li>Domain specialist within communications systems</li>
<li>Relevant experience in fault finding role</li>
<li>Electrical / electronic experience</li>
</ul>
Desirable:
<ul>
<li>HNC/HND/Degree in electrical/electronic domain</li>

The Build Integration – External Communications team:
This team oversee installation and test of the Combat System on the build boats. This role is specifically External Communication – working with the operations department to install kit, bringing subcontractors in and other specialists to undertake installation or test activity throughout the lifecycle of the build up to exit.
You will have the opportunity to operate the kit and work closely with ship staff on the boat, this will help them through a range of training and handover of the system once the kit has been matured.
